My teaching philosophy centers on the belief that students learn science by becoming participants in science. Beyond mastery of course content, I want students to develop the confidence and skills necessary to continue learning throughout their careers. Students do not enter my classroom with identical backgrounds, experiences, preparation, or confidence, and I do not expect them to: for me, inclusive and accessible teaching begins with recognizing those different starting points while maintaining high expectations for where students can ultimately go.
